 The average cost of employing a live-out nanny:

• £15-16 net per hour (plus tax, NI, pension etc)

An average week of 50 hours:

• 50 hours x £15 net per hour = £750 net per week
• £750 net per week = £1k gross per week (approx) 
• £62k per year (total employer cost)

An average week of 40 hours:

• 40 hours x £15 net per hour =£600 net per week and
• £920 gross per week 
• £48k per year (total employer cost)

An average week for a part time nanny – 30 hours:

• 30 hours x £15 net per hour= £450
• £645 gross per week 
• £34k per year (total employer cost)

Costs are approximate and include tax, NI, pension contributions and an average tax code
